Al, see my thread "Carrier soft parts" Not a lot of help I am sorry.
The seal is about 10mm thick. It has a smaller inside dia. at one end (just a gentle lip), and the o.d. is concave. I believe the seal works by the end load on it. It does not move relative to the steel it bears against, but twists internally.
The lip on the inside is to seal in the grease, and is a snug fit on the shaft.
I have some original NOS, but not enough. I have a friend who made a mould (because he owed me) and made me a set, but didn't want to make any more.
He had a tool for testing the hardness of the rubber (neoprene, what ever) and chose a suitable material based on that. I was happy with the result, but cant get any more. That is back home in N.Z. I am currently living in Western Australia.
Others over your way are possibly holding original ones, and will be able to give an exact width.
I hope that help a little.

I will add that the Australian made ones for the LP2 /2A as NOS in a box of 8, are (in my experience) hard and brittle and break easily. The shafts and clearance is probably the same, and I could therefore see a shortage of them here as well.
I have tried to soften them with no success.
