Mobile dentistry

A July 1948 photograph of one of the two mobile dental units that began operations in Victoria and Guysborough counties around that time. Left is Dr. J. W. McNee, operator of the Victoria County unit, and Dr. Cyril Gaum, operator of the one in Guysborough County.

Posts 551 and 562. Same building in the background??? Were all these vehicles around at the same time, and what the heck is that big circular saw blade thingie on the front of that pumper?

Default It's exactly what you think it is.

It's a hole saw for crashed aircraft fuselage penetration. Australian engineering at its finest. I think it was on a White or Indiana bus chassis

Default Semi trailer tractors

The 115" wheelbase tractor CMP was only made by Ford, the model is F60T.

Not sure about Canadian semi trailers but there were several types made here in Australia.

The tractor trucks were standard models with a 5th wheel coupling.

Why is it that it is mostly Jeep engines that we see being pulled in the pictures ?

Were they more subject to breakdown, abuse ?

Sherman tank, as far as I cal tell in Arnhem during the final liberation in 1945.

Note the CMP in the background. I'd say it is a '44-'45 model C15A.
