Yes Richard, It is a KB-1 introduced by IHC in 1940. Here is a photo of a 1946 model KB-1. Note it has a different moulding below the windows but is basically the same.

In 1978 I spotted one of those in a paddock up near Warrandyte . It was in very good order and it must have been driveable because about a week later when I drove past, the same ute was sitting in the same paddock but the grill and front end had been caved in by a prang with something - I'd say a tree in the paddock. My guess is hoons had taken it for a spin and decided to hit a tree with it ... Mike

I knew posting the pictures here would get either the spot on answer, or at least start an interesting conversation (or both!). The offer still stands if anyone is interested in the details of where it is, especially as we now know what it is!
