Hi Bruce, yes got the picture many thanks, will trial fit the cover and put up some pictures. By the way is there a small slither of wood under the valve storage box/tray between the box/tray and track guard?.

Not inches or millimeters for you. Slither as a unit of measurement...right on!!

I can't say. Mine wasn't attached and the imprint of corrosion under it doesn't say one way or the other. My instinct tells me if there wasn't a part listed in the parts book there probably wasn't one. The only alternative is that there isn't a part number because the wood was considered part of the bin (hence no separate number) but this isn't typical of Ford.

Default Wood packing

Bruce, I will check in the parts book for the countersunk screw lengths required, I suspect they list 1/2" long, which would mean no wood, unlike the ammo storage box which lists 1 3/4" long bolts, here's the original wood packing, two pieces sandwiched in there.

Default Packing

The screws are listed at 1/2" long same as the smoke bin which doesn't have any packing. Mystery solved, but I thought I would ask.
