Finding the HC1 Driver's Handbook would be like finding the missing link in human evolution.
Maybe one day we will find it and we can learn a little more about the last artillery tractor built during ww2 and that never entered combat.

I'm thinking maybe the C is just a typo when it should still be B as the HB stands for Hand Book.

Gents,
It seems that I missed contributing to this discussion almost 3 years ago. There were two series of Driver’s Handbooks: Handbook British (HB), and Handbook Canadian (HC). It would appear that the British Handbooks are far more prevalent. Attached are some supporting images from the design record. |

Here are some images of C60-HB1, and C60-HC1 I took a few years ago to contribute to a different discussion.
With C60-HC1 produced close to a year after C60-HB1, it includes up-to-date info on the latest features/design improvements. The main difference between the two books is the layout. The Handbooks intended for the British have the information laid out to conform to the British “Sixteen Tasks Maintenance Routine”, whereas the Canadian book uses the Canadian Task System (I am not currently near the books to get the proper name). As the Driver’s Handbooks detail mechanical maintenance tasks, FGT-HC1 may not provide much detail on the Gun Tractor body, and may not have been produced late enough to provide info on the last body type.
