Here is a picture from the Groesbeek museum website. (I added a bit more contrast and sharpened it a little)

Default Interesting pictures

But it seems all the GS have wooden boxes........ were any made with steel GS configuration in 20cwt.

We have the frame of a water tanker trailer with the old civilian 8:25 x20 rims.

Help my failing memory but was the steel GS trailer on 16 in. CMP rims only 15cwt capacity?

Cheers

There is a steel 20 cwt GS described in the AEDB design records. Like the wood bodies it has the stepped sides. The 15cwt had flat/vertical sides without the step.
Normally, the 15cwt had 16" wheels and the 20cwt had 20".
The 20cwt isn't listed as using any 10ga steel, only 12 and 14. But - some of the 12ga has stiffening corrugations. Are you thinking of building a body for your chassis?

Default Nah.......

You're the trailer restorer......... you can have the frame and build a wooden 20cwt.

Would prefer finishing the roof and 2B1 cargo box first...... then will see how much steam I have left.

Looks like the snow Gods are angry again.

Cheers

Bob,

The link mentioned in Hanno's post at the top of this thread points towards the old MLU domain, but if change the .org to .net, you will find some nice pictures of steel bodies GS trailers.

It's surprising how many trailers you see in pictures of the Dutch Liberation....
you even see German trailers being used....and even the back half of 15cwt GS trucks made into trailers!

Alex
