You can see in this photo of my spare track for Corowa The link marking are ! some stamped 39 , 41 the others have different marking , maybe the markers of the links milled the other side .

Wink track

I wonder if this was a special joiner link?, because as it seems you can not turn that link around, otherwise it will not interlock properly. So you hammered the pin out from the outside of the carrier, does that makes sense?
I pretty sure I have seen NOS track numbered 1-21 in original lengths of 21 links
