Thanks Rick,

Yes I'm sure you are correct. I started a separate thread here:
http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=23721

Which I've just updated with a couple of photos that show the previous owner's small wedges fitted.
I will try to get some larger wedges made, but would really like to find a set of good C60S springs

Default Rifle Brackets

Wanted to make some progress with the Chev after yesterday's discoveries and problems, so fitted the very good repro rifle brackets that James G has had made.
Perfect fit and now we just need to get the springs manufactured.....

Thanks James

Default Canadian Army Service Bulletin: Shovel bracket

Hendrick posted some very useful 1943 documents earlier on this thread that included a design for a shovel bracket.
So, I made one for the Chev and fitted it today. Quite difficult to photograph in-situ, but hopefully it makes sense in conjunction with parts of the bulletin

Default CMP Mirrors and arms

Last job today was to fit the NOS Mirror arms and lenses that Chris had brought into UK from Argentina.
Think they look better than the modern mirrors and altered CMP arms that had been fitted during the truck rebuild 10 years ago.

Amazing that they has been in languishing in store in South America for decades.
Thanks Chris.

Default 12v Electric Fuel Pump....on 6v Vehicle

Earlier in this thread I raised the question about fuel pump priming after the truck has stood for a couple of weeks.

Following on from comments received, I decided to fit an electric fuel pump to be used to pump up fuel before starting.

The C60s is still running all original 6v systems, and the only suitable 6v pump I could find was more than £100.

But I've already fitted a 12v high capacity leisure battery in a wooden box behind the left-hand step to run the Xenon warning beacon and sat-nav. Just charging it up from mains when necessary.
So found a 12v FACET pump on Ebay for £20 and have fitted it behind chassis by the 12v battery using a mounting plate and original holes in chassis. A toggle switch mounted on cab floor allows me to manually pump up fuel to start and then the engine runs on the normal diaphragm pump. I think an added advantage of this set up could be that if it gets fuel evaporation in hot conditions, can use pump to overcome the block.

Default Canadian Army Newsreel No 54

I've been watching several of these very interesting Newsreel clips on Youtube.

Lots of good views of CMPs, but one that really attracted by attention was No 54:

At 8mins 30s there is a short clip of a Cab 13 C60s Wrecker. This is the first WWII period film of have seen of these vehicles....just thought other owners would also be interested to see one on the move n Italy

Default 1:35 Resin Kit of this truck

1:35 Chevrolet C60s 4x4 Wrecker: Resin Kit by Romanian company "Fankit Models", who seem to have used my truck as the basis for the model (same CH number).
I found the kit on Ebay and had it built for me by Anthony Laurence of "Dorking Models", who I think has made a great job of it.
