Default Humba resto

Dave your are certainly doing very well with the Humber and maybe we will meet at Champ Camp with our other vehicles. Nice to have an understanding wife give her my love they are as rare as the vehicles we restore.

Default Supportive wife.

Thanks Paul, your project is also looking great and hopefully we will see each other's vehicles in time. Will those bows fit through your shed door? Kathy (Wife) is just sooooooo supportive of my endeavours and often jokes that I am out with my other woman when I am working or admiring the Humber.

It is day 6 of spring and we are faced with bushfires in the Tallarook ranges just 20k's to the south of us at the moment (2012 Champ Camp territory) helicopters, plumes of smoke, CFA fire crews around and that dreaded smell of burning bush wafting through the air. Safe in Seymour and I don't think that the situation will change for us as things are still fairly green just this blasted wind. Some small townships and some homes in the fire zone are under threat. A terrible start to what will unfortunately be a nightmare summer season for us I am afraid. Anyway this is our land Australia.

Cheers,

Dave

Default hoops

No the hoops and top cab frame need to be taken off prior to moving out of the shed, won't be for a while.

Default Top coat at last.

It has been a long slow slog but we have managed to get two coats of Deep Bronze Green 2 pack on the cabin. The flash from the camera does not do it justice, however, you can get the idea. Will wait a couple of weeks for the paint to harden and then place the cabin onto the chassis.

Dave.

Have moved the chassis out of the workshop and into the drive in preperation for the cab. Have organised a tilt tray to pick her up on Saturday and then a very short trip to the cabin, a bit of prep work, a forklift and hopefully i will have the cab back on the chassis this weekend. Have posted a couple more shots of the completed rolling chassis waiting to be collected.

I'm not one to miss out on the rare sight of a rust free Humber cab, so it was a trip down the Highway this morning for a look at Dave's in person. Minutes after getting there, the rolling chassis had been loaded on back of a tilt tray for the drive across town, dropped in front of the workshop and the shiny new cab lifted in place with the forklift. Back on the tilt tray and home, a bit of forethought and planning saw it all going like clockwork with the help of James the Panel Beater, and Terry the long suffering neighbour.
Surprisingly simple procedure, all the strange shapes and cut outs in the engine bay make sense when brake booster, starter motor, etc. just slip neatly through. For future reference, steering column was removed, as was "Y" manifold, and the winch control lever pulled all the way up.
Needless to say the cab looked terrific, great job by Traction Engineering, sure they were sorry to see it go....
Think Dave is now mesmerised by the light at the end of the tunnel.
Rich.
