I actually have a carrier transmission on the bench right now for re-assembly, which is why I know about those two. I will pul one now and see what thread it is. However, in civil servant fashion, I merely looked in my FUC-03 manual in front of me and they are indeed listed as using two of C01UC100400 tecalimite #28 3/8 BSF fittings. Don't forget that the regular Ford transmission housing has it's own part number for this application, so in the drawings they may have specified to tap the holes to BSF. I know I have adapted regular truck transmission housings to carrier application before by adding a hole or two on the back which is not on the normal applications.
A check in the back of the manual shows this fitting in use in over 21 different sections of the manual. There is another on the fan extension. |

Well we have it covered then?
I will edit my earlier posted list so that they are all there in one place.

Lynn,
Your 1412 hr post has the complete list of grease nipples ? Thanks a lot , that will come in handy. Where can i find an adaptor that will fit on the nipples for my modern grease gun ? Cheers. Robert

Robert, you can probably buy one from an engineering supplies place that screws directly on your gun, or you can leave the chuck on your gun and fit a grease nipple in the back of the adapter.

I would have to look up all the 100400s in FUC to confirm. I would think there are more than 24. When the manual lists it in 21 places, whle there will be some duplication, they are also in multiples. We'll see how time goes when I get back to the house tonight.
Robert: Ebay will have those adapters at a reasonable price. Best bet is to attch one right to the flexhose of a geasegun, rather than having the coupler pop off youre adapter averytime you pump the greasegun. Go to ebay and enter "button grease" to see the selection of adapters along with grease fittings. Note there are small and large size fittings. |

Robert, to add to Rob's good adviceI think you will need the small one. The big ones are monsters.
Go for a new fitting, because if they leak, they are a pain. They are usually bsf threaded as is likely, your grease gun.

This side of the globe our grease guns are 1/8 NPT. So are a lot of the adapters. Lincoln 81458 is a common (albeit expensive) one, and NPT to boot.
Robert: If you google "button head coupler" you will come up with a bunch of other brands besides Lincoln. Generally, the lincoln one is $38US if in the States, around $80 in Canada, and if you only pay for the best, the same coupler is $124 from Acklands Grainger. Not sure what brand Fastenal uses, but theirs are very reasonably priced at US $20. |

You could also have a look at the fold-out service chart in UC-F1. . .
The button head zerk under either rear bogie pivot arm may have been knocked off. Fitting, Lubricator, Tecalemite #28-3/8 BSF. Part number C01UC 100400. It also has a USA cross-over number as well as a U.K. number. There could be as many as thirty-three / thirty-four, depending on UC MK-I* or MK-II* and how they are equipped. I.E.: tow hook has one. The MK-I* tilting wireless antenna base has two. Although each bogie wheel has one, there are five wheels per side on the little carriers, the single 10" return roller spindle being overlooked. The pivot pin on the underside of the rear bogie pivot pin, plus the too often ignored double bogie assemblies where they pivot on the cross tube, in addition to the secondary pivot. No wonder they are a PITA to remove. The speed change assembly has two, one at the base of the ball and socket, the second one on the bearing support. The steering gear box can be found with an assortment of fittings that may not be original. The spare used to hold the lubricator on the signal pistol holster bracket is a gem! Robert
I am assuming you have some (or all) of the original button head style grease fittings. There were two sizes: regular and large. The carrier uses regular which I see also are referred to as 5/8". When you say your Canadian Tire grease gun works on some of the fittings, then that means someone has changed some (or all?) of your fittings over to the nipple style. In that case the Cdn tire end will work on any of them, although angles of access may require you to get some flexible coupling. In the photo below is one with a dozen various grease nipples and one button head fitting. In the other photo is a button head fitting. |

HI, I think I made a mistake and didnt make myself clear. It is my intantion to change the ols nipples into the modern one, and I need to know the size of the thread on the body side, not on the greaser side. I think there are at list two sizes. thanks arie
