If you have enough time in Vancouver, a drive out to the Point Grey Coastal Battery site might prove interesting. Two of the four emplacements are still there along with all the underground works.
And it that gets boring, you can walk to the cliff face and find a wooden stair case that leads down to the beach where the searchlight towers stand, in the middle of a popular nudist beach now. David
