Now we are getting somewhere ! have to recondition the leather seals that go around the turntable so I'll have to hit ebay to find some suitable rivets.

Wow! That's a complex little bugger, isn't it.
Any museum would be happy to have it, with the quality of your work. Bet it doesn't go out in the rain.

It is very over engineered and complex but this was the way things were done before the War. lots of funny angles , a bastard to paint.
No it wont go out in the rain ,for that matter it probably wont go anywhere ! In the process of fitting the Ring at the moment but its just shy of where it should be so the files will be out tomorrow ,I reckon it could be done by the end of the week. ![]() Rob...................rnixartillery |

Rob.
What is the purpose of the four large pins, two either flank of the lower armour? Looks like a provision for fitting additional side armour plates for crew protection, but that seems like a serious amount of overthinking. David |

Your correct David, they are for side armour Which you would think was a lost cause.

Breech and sight assembly fitted. The Breech Ring assembly isn't the original although both 1942 dated I fitted a nicer looking BRA with a much lovely patina.
Shield going on tomorrow ! Rob.....................rnixartillery. Last edited by rnixartillery; 27-07-19 at 20:58. |
