If the Census number on the door is correct, it is the first vehicle of a contract for petrol tankers. I have never seen anything like this body before, the stowage lockers under the body are unusual. Maybe it was modified after leaving military service. Richard |

Bedford OY...
...nice picture of the OY. In a bushy setting on grass with a quonset in the background. Could be 60 years ago.

OY with odd body
The OY with lockers under the body, is now in Sussex, England. There was some speculation as to the purpose and use of the body, but I recently came across a photo of it in an early copy of W&T, taken at a Keep 'em rolling event in Holland, the caption said it had served in a Dutch fire brigade. This makes sense as it has stowage for things like axes in the underbody lockers, and bench seats for crew in the body.

I've seen a few MW's around in Australia, mostly the aero screen type. But a few later ones have turned up too. Sadly, nobody over here has attempted a restoration that I know of... About 4-5 WOT2's have been restored, and MY sole CS8 epic restoration efforts will probably never bear fruit ... I'm getting too old ! It's typical that no bids have appeared on that MW..its British, a bit " diferent " and deemed to be a ODD BALL car by MV people over here who are obsessed with Jeeps and such. MIKE

Yes Mike, The more Oddball, the more stuff you have to make yourself, whereas the Jeep guys just ring Marathon Spares for whatever little bit they need. Do believe the PayOff of the more unusual vehicles is worth it in the long run though.
