Dave,

I think, at minute 2.45, it's an M2A3 light tank - twin turret, angular hexagonal cupola (or an M2A3E1 if equipped with a Guiberson radial diesel). The predecessor, the M2A2, had a rounded cupola. I think there is a brief glimpse of an M2A2 (or M2A2E1 if powered by a Guiberson radial diesel) at around minute 3:27, but the majority of footage is the M2A3 with the hex cupola.

As you rightly say, a blind alley when it comes to tank development.
