The pictures were taken in CFB Wainwright, about 1986.
I was quite surprised to see this pictures when I googled Canadian M38A1 as they are my pictures.

I have access to an original M38a1 top marked to the SALH.

If your interested I could snap a couple pics of the stencilling for you.

Very easy, I do it in Photoshop saving the image as a copy and then I post the copy.
