Default Home sweet home

Guys,

Just made a major milestone, the Lynx now has an engine. Great feeling to finally have an engine back in. It was back on the 4th of April 14 that I pulled the original 239.
Adam McConnell, our local mechanic, came to make sure that it went in pointed the right way. Slipped into place without a whimper.
Feels as if I've finally turned the corner with the restoration. Dave Good also ran up the engine and when I figure out how to do it I will post his video of the engine run. It certainly sounded sweet.
It's been quite an enjoyable task with lots more in the way of challenges and rewards.

Peter

Well done Peter! Congratulations on the "marriage" of the engine and hull/chassis.

Please keep the updates coming.

Default Lynx Stowage & Lubrication diagrams

Rick, and Peter,

The stowage and lubrication diagrams (one of each) are about 24 x 36 inches each in size and come from the pockets at each end of the Lynx maintenance manual. The local Staples store can copy that size. Cost is $6USD each.

If folded as per original, the postage to Australia (large envelope - standard mail not trackable) would be about $10USD. Have not checked re postage cost to Canada. Rolled would be more expensive and requires the cost of a postage tube as well.

If either or both of you wish to proceed (or anyone else for that matter), PM or email or contact me via the contact page on my website at www.michaelkcecil.com

Mike

Just a thought, PDF file on a thumb drive or a CD is pretty inexpensive to make and send and have repro'd on the receiving end...
I just did this with a couple M274 Mule manuals which I had scanned.

At the risk of hijacking this wonderful Lynx thread, the number of Lynx survivors is remarkably similar to the number of Fox ones: two in the same museums (Shilo and the CWM) and three privately owned, though one of those in is Utah.

I haven't heard of any other Lynx in Canada, whole or hulks.

There's a photo of me sitting on top of one in the film 'Dieppe' in a warehouse in Toronto around '92, don't recall who owned it.

Bruce,
Both the Fox produced by GM or the Lynx produced by Ford are welcome. They both represent a significant moment in our country's history and deserve to be preserved.

Russ,
If you could provide a copy of the picture of you and the "Toronto Lynx", it would make a welcome addition to this thread.

Peter

I'm almost certain that's the one currently in the CWM. At about the time of that movie the Oshawa 'Ferret' club was doing work on if for the museum. Many local vehicles were included so probably the Lynx too. I once owned the C60L on the left side of the photo and at the time of the movie it too was owned by the Ferret Club.

Another historical note regarding the Lynx in Canada: The late Dr. Bill Gregg brought three of them to Canada from Greece in the late 70's or early 80's. Apparently there were a dozen to choose from but I guess three was all he wanted and I don't expect the rest met a happy end. Of the three, two are in museums as noted (the Shilo museum in Manitoba and the CWM in Ottawa). Bill Greg kept the third after he sold off his entire collection and it eventually was sold to a collector in Denmark.

Regarding at least two of the 'hulks' in Alberta, one is still here and was painstakingly rebuilt from bits that had been strewn about a yard. It was (is?) recently for sale. The second was sent to the Leegwaters in Holland.
