hi Dave,Rich, unless you have already spotted this, there is a guy on gumtree in port Lincoln SA looking for IFO which i presume is info and service books for a fv1600.
i have given him some basic (where to) info re manuals etc,he replied with a heap of pics that didnt work but i think they are pics on his other ad anyway. Thought he may have come back with a barrage of questions but just got ok thanks.
if anyone is interested they might get some more out of him,at very least may get chassis numbers of at least another one that still survives, photo of tub brass plate indicates nos of cb61101 (i think) which if like mine matches ch no its one of the higher numbered ones.
Bridge plate has an E.R. Elizabeth Regina ? sticker on it?
lLook up" wanted: ifo wanted "or" wanted service books" name of Troy.
Cheers John

John, gotta love it when you go out of your way and get a disinterested reply.
Periodically I get requests like this for Humber based information, my first step is to send a link for some of the Humber threads here on MLU, then depending on nature of request;
http://anzacsteel.hobbyvista.com/oth...rtruckph_1.htm
or
http://www.livesteammodels.co.uk/dhmg/humb003.html
Occasionally I get an actual reply ( thanks ), about 5% of the time the information is gratefully received and acted upon in some way.
I guess the links above give all the information that is required, so it is only the few diehards that get through to the next stage.
Being a Humber owner can be a black hole of time wasted in so many ways...

The link to the Gumtree ad:

Dave, that's the dustiest Humber I've seen since Bookham.
Rich.

Just love the muffler fitted directly to the manifold looks a bit like a tractor.

Yes, very dusty at least Bookhams was as close to 100% as you would find.

The rear of the tub missing is an interesting adaption.

Seems to be a lot of Humbers surfacing at the moment. OH the unititiated.

John, has the package arrived?
Dave.

Dave, sidelights rocked up today, their great!,something about NOS stuff sorta takes you back a bit when you think how old they are but "brand new"at the same time.
While we are on that subject do you know if Oztankboy still around? i see he posted that he had some new fuel tanks and bits and pieces a few years back at the beginning of his post on humbers ,or are they long gone?
will get payment under way and let you know when its sorted i think my wife has your acc details'
cheers John

Is there any indication or references any where as to what side etc for blackout light to be be fitted or should there have been maybe 2?,and where/what would you use the red filter for? i presume there would be an army instruction (maybe not just for the Humber) but use of lighting in convoy/blackout use for most vehicles ,i know the white painted diff centre would have to be a part of it'
Thanks John

Hello John, the red lens is for the Ultra Violet stuff, you can get the filters for the headlamps also and then all you need are the goggles and you are away. If I was you I would remove the tube and just run both front side lights the same.

With the fear of telling you how to suck eggs.

As far as the rear convoy light you would have noticed that the rear diff centre is not painted white in its place is a white bridge plate bolted to the chassis and a number plate light attached to a carefully shaped bracket which illuminates the white plate when on blackout lights.

if you look at my Humber thread you will spot a picture of the rear end without the tub on showing the plate and lamp. I do have a NOS lamp if you require one.

Cheers,

Dave.
