It may be that we have solved this then.... The maker as stated above was around in ww1, which adds up if the sights were made around that time..possibly the 1920s.. Then they could have been for that gun.
It may be that the 1957 date was stamped on after.. ( in 1957) maybe after a factory repaint and inspection... Im just guessing......
