There was also the M38, 6x6 , but these where prototype`s , so why ship so many bearings to Europe .

That is what springs to mind, indeed: T28/M38 Wolfhound 6x6 Armored Car.
There's also the 'Wolf' 8x8 heavy armoured car, which was a Canadian development - but it was an 8x8, and only one was built. How so many bearings ended up in Europe? Maybe just offloading unneeded spares as MDAP supplies after WW2.... Puzzled, Hanno Wolfhound: T28armoredCarDATASHEET.pdf Chevrolet_M38_Wolfhound_Armored_Car.jpg Wolf: WFVCanada2HAUGH.pdf k8m3zRE.jpg

Based on the Wolf being a Ford development, it seems unlikely that it would have used the same engine bearings as a GM 270 engine (but anything is possible.
The Wolfhound is listed as using a Cadillac V8, at least it would be the same corporate parts bin but (without specific knowledge)I would have thought different bearings. The Boarhound is quoted as having 2 GM 6 cylinder engines (which is what suggested it to me) of 125 HP each which I admit seems a bit much for the 270 at that era. |
