Great photos, Rick! Thanks for sharing.
Would it contain more information about the 14th Field handing in their Priest 105mm SP Guns in August 1944 - see link? Like number of Priests turned in, census numbers, personnel transferred, etc. Anything could be interesting! Thanks, Hanno

People in service of their country
Hi Rick
Thanks for sharing these photos, good to see them preserved and shared. All to often photos like these are being lost, as the people who knew these men when they served their country and cherished the photos pass away. Cheers Phil

14th Field Reg. page 11 of War Diary. Hanno you will see a little comment on 105's, disappointingly all of the typing from August 1944 is very hard to read. If you pm your email I'll send Aug to you and you can try and discern what has been typed.

Hanno I sent August 1944 war diary a few days ago, it was quite large (10MB). Let me know if it has not arrived, if not I will send it in 2 files to get the size down. Alex I sent 5 photos with bikes in them, the resolution is the best I have hope you can see it a little better. Paul these 5 photos are all I have with the priests in them. With any luck your priest is the one in the photos "Bathless Groggins" |

It looks to me that the jeep has a camouflage pattern, was this common? I don't recall seeing a WW2 jeep painted with a pattern? It might be the shadows. |

I know I haven't seen white wall tires, what gives? And with these 4 photos, this is the end of them. Hope you enjoyed. |

There is film footage of the 14th field landing at Bernières-sur-Mer as Sgt. Bill Grant and Lieut. Frank Dubervill of the Canadian Film and Photo Unit crossed the Channel with the regiment. Grant's footage and Dubervill's photographs start with the loading of the LCTs in Southampton. As they approach the beach the Shermans and Priests fire their guns from the deck. Photos show men of Régiment de la Chaudière on the LTC presumably to provide security. The sequence ends with the famous scene of the Priest driving up to "La Maison des Canadiens" on the beach. Grant and Dubervill leave the 14th Field and continue recording events on the beach.
