Enfield also made small stationary engines for agricultural and industrial use, as did BSA. Enfield Motorcycles and BSA had some common history as private companies. While BSA was a rifle manfacturer who also made motorcycles and engines, the Enfield motorcycle and engine maker WAS NOT the same Enfield that made Small Arms (which was a government-owned factory), although there were some links.

Thankyou for the response. They probably are for a motorcycle. I know that my father rode motorcycles in England before the war and after he came home. I don’t recall him telling about a Royal Enfield, but he did say that he owned a Matchless. I also know that his cousin rode a Black Shadow.

Enfield were also very big bicycle manufacturers until 1967.
The middle spanner looks like a standard bicycle tool. The thin spanner looks like an axle bearing cone adjuster for a bike. Most bike tool kits had those two spanners and a couple of tyre irons. There probably was a similarity in some tools between motor cycle and bicycle. Lang |
