Note holders on the top for 2 gallon Tins. Uprights have been cut off but they were definitely there, once.

Looks like the lids have earth bonding straps. For radio or electrical equipment, maybe?

With 'Tare (over) T C Q L' on the side, these have come from the left side of a motor vehicle, if the regulations have been followed.

I seem to remember the left side of the CMP Sig Van has a box with provision for 2 gallon cans on top, but would need to find some images to confirm that.

Edit: looks from the locker photos that the units are handed; note position of the brackets. Would they have been on both left and right sides?

Thanks for finding that thread, Owen, and yes, you are right: the two in the images are 'handed' so a pair or left & right side boxes, with the 'Tare TCQL' on the left side box. Note the 2 gal cans are mounted longways.

The bonding straps will be because it is a Sig van. The Aust sig van carried various 'loads' of different wireless set combinations, depending upon role.

As Mike said, Sigvan - they were a distinctive shape because of the rear mudguard line. And they're heavy - ask Euan who carried one across the Ballarat Swap meet one year!
