Thanks Mike for the info - that is indeed a 1 before the 2 ...
The vehicle's ID plate states 1940. Do the other numbers have significance? Excuse my ignorance but what is: "1760 is the sanction nr. these are listed in the 1940 combined manual." Brass Plate.jpg

Not sure , the sanction nr is related to batches of different types of vehicles . The 1940 manual has a list of four digit numbers each number represents a batch of either PU or CS 8 or C8 and so on .

A few CS8's have been found in QLD - this scenario suggests a possible point of disposal in QLD . Maybe the Mt Gravatt vehicle park ?
