Quiz question:
Why is there a lock screw in the bottom casting that the gear lever lower ball locates in?

A couple of gear lever assemblies.
As you will see the lock outs are quite different. One gear lever has two holes at the top, while the other only one, so not interchangeable. The alloy lift lever has a "0" at the center of a winged logo. One gear lever has a diamond with a "G" in it. I assume now, that these are all British? The top one has a fully machined "Dog" while the lower one is pressed. The rod obviously has to be different as well, because of the clevis. Back to my question: The lock screw holds the inner ball cup in the correct location, because when the cup rotates it restricts the gear lever travel and may cause the gear lever to break. (see weld at the ball on lower lever) I suggest you check your carrier.
