Most bases were breaking down the rims and wheels, and putting the tires in the scrap pile, where they would net maybe 2 or 3 dollars a tire. But Toronto saved themselves some work and put them into CADC on skids of 5. The first sales netted around $1500 to 1800 per lot. Eventually the prices dropped down to about where they are now.
I got about 6 or 8 pallets full of these tires from one of the units on base for the museum. They did not want, nor have the time, to break them down just to achieve scrap value. We will use the tires, and the rims will likely get used as vehicle supports around the back compound. Last edited by rob love; 17-08-20 at 13:45.
