Hi Dave,

In your type of truck the spare sits in a bracket in the RH front of the body.

Looks like a Ford one for 30cwt and 60cwt trucks.

Dave, I believe if it had a spare it would be positioned inside the rear body; against the left or right hand side wall, near the front.

Dave....I have had another look at the position of the spare wheel; so far I have found the Dutch post-war picture I posted is the only exception to the rule, with the spare wheel carrier positioned in the left front of the body......all others show it on the right hand side. Have a search here on the forum, RichCam posted some pictures of a Derrick truck with the spare wheel carrier, and I believe Barry also posted pics of another example.

This is Jos Van der Auwera's C60L. The spare wheel carrier will be fitted to this truck sometime soon (transport is delayed due to COVID).
