Default Check Brian Ashbury.....

He has GMC (not Chevrolet) NOS Stock full instrument clusters.....0000.0 mileage.....all gauges are brand new...... not cheap but you know you are getting an original working cluster.

Thanks guys for your assistance, I've seen the stick on gauge dials but wanted to keep it authentic to the era with the painted faces. I've had a quote to overhaul/refurbish the complete set at £1000 so that isn't going to happen unless I win the lottery!

A little baby oil has worked wonders on the faces whilst retaining the patina and re-plating the metal cages has lifted the years of grime.

Fingers crossed the gauges still work (I think I saw them jump into action when we fired her up first time after 40years) but at the time the gauges weren't top of my agenda.

I'll post some pictures once I've re-assembled the unit.

Cheers,

Paul

Default According to my NOS odometer.......

.....as of New Years day I now have 404 miles on my new GMC cluster....... I toyed with the idea of rebuild one of many I accumulated , even got the proper shade of paint from the hobby shop.....but then gave in to a ready built NOS one although I did need to get a custom cable made that would fit the GMC odometer fitting yet retain the Chev output for the connection to the T case.

Not trusting the functioning original working gauges, I retro fitted a vacuum gauge, mechanical Oil pressure gauge, mechanical temp gauge and a tach ....... so I can monitor what is actually happening under the bonnet....

Cheers

Gents thanks for your assistance.

Here's some before and after pictures, I decided not to restore the gauge faces but to keep the patina albeit a little surface rust.

Soft soldered the holes in the bezel surround and re-chromed, re-plated the rear plates and painted the inners.

Looking forward to getting some good weather now to push onwith the cab rebuild.

Cheers,

Paul
