Here's the lamp, known as a "Wheat Lamp" after the developer Grant Wheat. These were standard underground miner's lamps in the 1930's and used by Canada as portable interior armoured vehicle lamps. The lamp is on the left sitting in its charging socket. It's connected to the rechargeable battery seen in its bracket on the right. It can trickle or fast charge off the vehicle's 12 volt system and is of course portable. For mining purposes, the lamp would fasten to the miner's helmet and the battery hung on his waist belt.
