Because they are essentially a commercial skidoo, one could buy an old civilian machine and transplant what is needed to build up a military machine.

Personally, I never liked snowmobiling much. At -20, the warmth of the fireplace is far more inviting to me than racing along at 70 kmh into the wind of the bald ass prairies.
