It seems the particular issue with wiring "looms" it the loomed cotton cover that wraps the bundle of wires....... the deivce if I am correct is a circular loom much similar but smaller scale to a common stocking loom from the 1940s.......
Now when Phil Waterman made a limited very high quality copy he found a Eastern USA manufacturer that did the looming part (probably marine /boat related) for the bundles of wires that Phil sent them...... if that simple but complex step to making a wiring "loom" can be sourced in North America...... it seems to me that the wiring, connectors, and diagrams are readily available....... given an old dried up complete Chev CMP ( which we have) then two sheet of plywood painted white with a bunch of nails and you can reproduce the wiring bundle.....but if you have to ship it to a "Loomer" and pay the labor ++ shipping both ways than no wonder the price is going up..... Now where can we find in NA or the UK a manufacturer willing to do small order of custom looming????? buying that old equipment in working condition is probably out of the question..... You can buy copper tinned wire looming tubes by the roll or the yard flat as a ribbon and various width....... is a ready made flat ribbon tube similarly available...... same is available in synthetic nylon fibers as a scuff protector..... Common guys lets overload Google search engine

Worth exploring as an alternative for DIY......
They have cotton braided....... also synthetic shrink braided..... Have yet to find a cotton black with one yellow tracer......... it is called braided sleeving tube......... prices are reasonable and I have had material shipped to my home very fast no custom hassle........ but would not buy 100 meters without a small sample..... ....back to looking......

Bob,
If you are feeling brave, look at the machines made in the UK by https://www.cobrabraids.com/. You could set up in a new career... providing harness braiding services in either cotton or wire to the CMP community. You can download a data sheet from their Australian distributor's website at https://airbout.com.au/wp-content/up...-P1-and-P2.pdf As you point out, most things (or their knock-offs) can be bought in China... |

The focus of this thread is to exchange info about wiring harnesses available off the shelf.
For DIY wiring see threads like Snake’s Alive: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=23227
