I have just bought a few more carrier photos taken in 1945 of troops driver
training on carriers and found this one with the tracks not all the way round. Two carriers with it, first time i have seen this.

The term is short-tracking and is a recovery technique. Although it means breaking track, counting links, hammering pins out and in, and retensioning. Anything that will get you home I suppose.

RHLI carriers. Of note is the Hell’s Angles motif on the sides. The entire carrier platoon at the time carried them.

Nice ones, Keith. Shows that the Carrier was a truly Universal vehicle as it was used by a huge number of armies over a long period of time and in practically every theatre of operation.

Are these Belgians in the British Army during the war, or soldiers of the Belgian Army after the war?

I would think post war. The photo of a convoy has a vickers mg on it.

That’s not unusual
![]() Since it’s mounted on the engine cover on the Belgian vehicle too, it’s (almost certainly) an MMG Carrier. |
