Default submerged Carriers
See http://www.moesslang.net/th-panzer.htm for some pictures of a pair of Universal Carriers still on board of the wreck of "Thistlegorm", sunk off the western coast of Sinai on 5 October 1943. There are still many more vehicles and equipment to be found on board.

Not just carriers on there either. I saw a newspaper article and photos some years ago and it showed Bedford OY trucks, Norton 16H motorcycles, heaps of Trak Grip tyres and also a steam railway loco, which was on the deck and is now lying on the sea floor.

First job would be to dry out the distributor. You know what those old V8 Fords are like when they're damp.

Could be Richard. Looks definitely like a Ford steering wheel, and the WOT2 had a canvas roof with curved body shell behind seats. But it did have a radiator cap on the bonnet as well as lights on stalks on the wings. The spare wheel wasn't carried on the drivers side if indeed that wheel belongs to it!!

Would like to go and dive to see it all! One trouble is I can't hold my breath that long!

Anyone else passing that way?

Nigel,

Had another look, I thought originally that the tyre was from something else, now I am sure it is actually a Morris Commercial CS11/30, because I seem to remember they carried the spare in that position, is that correct? The curve on the cab side top corner coincides, also look at the angle of the steering column, definitely not 15cwt, it is a larger and taller truck. I think the side lights are just out of shot.

Default youtube footage of "Thistlegorm" wreck
G'day All, Found this awesome link to underwater footage of the wreck "Thistlegorm", some-one posted some pix re the wreck some time ago, but now in youtube there are about 8 video clips in and around the wreck showing all sorts of wrecked trucks/bikes, Lee Enfields etc I hope this link works
