Carman
Thanks for the great photo shoot of the big parade. You did a great job. It has given many of us who could not attend an opportunity to see many of the MLU members. It gladdens an old veterans heart to see so many young faces enjoying a piece of Canada's great effort in WW2. I am sure that your connection with Don gave you a much closer relationship with your uncles and a piece of their units history. Thanks again, so glad you were able to go. You look so thrilled in the photos. Again I want to thank Geoff for his tireless effort for producing MLU. My, how I wish I could have been there. |

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. If you want any of them, let me know, and I'll email copies I didn't change in order to post them here, to you. Just let me know! Geoff is right, you were definately "there" with us in spirit ... I know physically would have been even better ... but you were "with us" believe me! Yes ... the connection with Don definately gave me a lot more knowledge of my Uncles and of course the Royal Winnipeg Rifles of WW2 and then some ![]() Norm and Betty ... yes ... all down the lines of parade-watchers there were all ages of kids ... I deliberately took many photos including the crowds of people turned out so you all could see ... hold that knowledge in your heart because these kids are learning the history and how this connects to our rights and freedoms and all TODAY ... and they'll pass that on to people, friends and family, that they know too ... what I like to call the "Eternal Light" (of enlightenment ![]() Yep ... I was thrilled ![]() Karmen |

I can post them if anyone is looking for pics of any specific vehicle. As well, I have some MPGs of the Germans using IEDs to simulate firing their panzerfaust... its kinda like monkeys with hammers; fun to watch, dangerous to be around.... j/k |

Looking at all the photos of Ottawa reminded me of the time that we visitedOttawa. Did you get to sit in the speekers chair, like we did?
What do you think of a couple of Aussies taking charge of Canada? Max |

After legislating the production of Vegemite and it's daily consumption, then very next thing on the agenda would be to get onto Ford and GM to restart the production of CMPs as a matter of National Importance.
Soon the sounds of the stovebolt 6 and sidevalve V8 would again be rumbling across the Canadian countryside... Some of the overseas developments would be essential - Canadian mothers would be shopping and dropping their children off in HUPs and F8 personnel carriers, the gun tractor would become the SUV of choice (as it is in parts of Eltham here). Carriers would also be built to satisfy the needs of the man on the land. Think of the benefits to Canadian society - not to mention the millions of export dollars it would generate. This could become a world-wide CMP led recovery. Poverty would become a thing of the past. The crime rate would drop to zero, as would the road toll... Oil crisis? What oil crisis? ![]()

Max is only an ornamate in the chair, it would be just to scarey for me if Max did really do all that CMP stuff that you dreamed up. A good change for legislation would be to make everyone drive on the other side of the road. Kathy |

Good idea about the other side of the road... once everyone is driving CMPs this won't be a problem - driving on the left has always been the obvious and natural thing to do. Something we could also do is to increase live sheep exports to Canada. They really should be eating more lamb - even the two tooth variety popular in Yass. Anyome else have some constructive suggestions about how Max will benevolently rule Canada when he's next there? I suppose he can also change the flag back to the red ensign too. ![]()

Thanks for your replies Karmen and Gary. The 47 on the Bofors is for the 2nd LAA regiment part of the 1st Cdn Division. I am attempting to gather enough information about this regiment to eventually do a website on it.

![]() Meanwhile Murray, if you want, I can send you copies of photos That I do have "with the Bofors" ... unaltered ... would have to email them as they're huge, as mentioned. I only have a couple. Just PM or email me with your email address if you want me to send 'em. Thren you can crop and play with the images as you like, I'm not good at that. Just learning ![]() I hope you DO do a website ... I may not know much, but I like the history and information out there for people to learn about ... preservation and appreciation of this history and all that jazz. ![]() Karmen |

Hi Folks,
A little heads-up for those of you who may have bought a souvenir coffe-mug at the New War Museum opening Ceremonies, that has a picture of the New Museum on the mug .... WARNING: DO NOT WASH! The image is simple a PLASTIC LABEL ATTACHED to the mug and comes off with washing/scraping. I found this out accidentally when washing it ... I used it often for my coffee ... this cup is best used for display only if you want to preserve the label on it. I hope this post prevents this happening to someone else in case they hope to keep the image in good condition but are using it for their beverages and washing it lots.. Karmen |
