Can't say about them going to Australia, but we had 3 turrets come here (and I heard 3 went to Wainwright) for targets on the range. We also had a hull show up last year for the same purpose.
I was talking with the one of the LCMMs a few years back and he mentioned that they bought the upgraded turrets from the Germans at a cost of $30,000 per tank with $10,000 refundable on return of the hulls. We kept the hulls because it was not economical to return them to Germany, and they were good for some spare parts.
I won't claim the numbers as gospel as it was 3 years back, but I think it was close to these figures.
