Winch Scotches
I’m working away on my Pattern 12 C60L and need some information on the winch scotches, I’ve seen them mentioned in the manual but I have not seen any good photos or more important dimensional drawings. What did they look like what gage steel were they made and where were they normally stored on the truck.

I have a set identical to that and another set which are welded rather than riveted.
Then there are holdfasts which are used as anchors.

....maybe it is the Bailey (instead of Scotch) I have been drinking but your picture is very confusing...... how the he*** do you drive both the front wheels and rear wheels on them Scotchy things....???
....and where to you tie it under the cab???? maybe to the nut that holds the "Holy Jesus" grab handle on the passenger side. I guess you plan on doing some real serious winching!! Bob

Bob, the pic shows how to fit one pair for either winching from the front or alternatively from the rear. not both ways at once!
The vehicles they are used with, usually have some solid hooks fixed to the chassis. They work very well.

Hi Phil
I finally got around to going to the Chicken Ranch tonight and checking for scotches. I have some spares so I could sell you a couple if you are interested. Brian dragged one out and I took a couple of photos. My new camera will not download yet but when I get that fixed I will post the photos. These are the rivetted ones but they do have some pitting along one edge. Cheers, Barry

Hi Barry – Yes I’m definitely interested, post the pictures when you can.
Right now even with just a short length of cable on the winch drum it just drags the truck across the ground. Of course the truck doesn’t weigh much with no body on the back. Thanks Phil

Hi Walde
Here are photos that Dirk took for me at the Chicken Ranch last fall and I forgot about them.  It is the top and bottom views of the scotches. Please notice the pitting on the one view. I don't know a fair price but maybe someone on MLU can help us. Shipping would be cheapest by Greyhound I would expect. The other pair is better but Phil Waterman has first crack at them.Think about it and let me know, obviously there is no hurry on my part as "old timers" disease has set in.
