In some jursidictions, including Ontario, you can put on "Year of Manufacture" plates. Although these have to be original, and therefore not custom, they look pretty good. I recently passed on a pair of 1942 plates for $12.00 in a local antique shop but told a Jeep-owning friend who quickly snapped them up.
