Default Big FARM

...I am a prairie boy David, so it looks pretty normal to my eyes. The farm itself may only be a few hundred acres or many sections but in South and western Saskatchewan and sountern Alberta you can watch your dog run away for two weeks. You can see as far as you can see on the ocean , seas of grass or grain. Like the Steppes in Russia. You would likely find it as amzing as I find the postage stamp sized farms in England with hedges or stone fences around every one.
As for the truck menagerie, very cool. I expect to see some pics of you unloading them with the Cleltrac

Default Good Photos David......

The first one..... those shock link rods are an early design....sometimes found on early cab 13.....

...but the last picture...... that beautiful dot & dash floor plate is definitely early cab 11 or 12..... Mike in Kars as an early CGT cab 11 with the same axle BUT with Chev shocks..... never seen the mix of Ford shocks with Chev axle....

In the back cemetery we have a 42 Ford with a Chev/GM cast front axle and we had an early cab 13 we took apart that had the complex rear shock linkages like the ones you are showing and the GM/Chev cast front axle........ on these early cast axles I would expect to find the early RZeppa U Joint inside the eggcup. Fairly easy to check without total disassembly...... remove the cast hub cap and examine the centre of the protruding axle shaft..... if it has a center hole that is threaded.... you have a RZeppa axle.....

Here are similar pictures....assembly pattern...??? of a FGT owned by Stanley Walker....Ford with GM/Chev cast axle and funny Ford friction shocks...

And look at the early cab 11 CGT at Kars and it has the GM/Chev axle with Chev cab 11 small shocks.....and a strange cast rear axle.....

Bob

Too bad all this stuff is so far from Ottawa....

Default One more photo to support pattern....

1942 Ford cab 13 with early cast GM/Chev front axle with Ford friction shocks.......

Don't have any rear end picture of the 42 Ford and can't remember what axle is at the rear.....

Maybe Rob can remember...?

I was out in Alberta on the weekend and came up with this Cab 12 F15a. It'll likely be in May before I can go to pick it up. I think it'll become a donor truck for my Cab 11.

I was at a neighbours farm auction today and picked up a 261 Pontiac engine complete with a 4 speed trans. The motor turns over freely but will need rings. I'm not sure which truck will end up with this engine. I also got a rebuilt head for a 235.
Although not military I also got a 1948 Chev 4 door sedan that I drove home. The 216 works good. It has a vacuum clutch setup so when gearing up you just shift gears and the clutch works automatically. I hadn't planned on buying it but nobody seemed to want to bid on it and it sold for $400. The seats have been reupholstered and bodywork done almost ready for paint.

Cannot figure out what that white sprinkly stuff is... falling from the sky on the F15A...must be a sandstorm ..one of those famous Alberta storms .

It's surprising whats around so close to home ..there is a 1950 Chevy ute next door , the sedan/car based ute only made here , with a Holden body . But it's totally beyond help . The 216 is still in it .
