Default Chassis

Hi Murray,

You have re-surfaced out of the wilderness or wheat fields or Karri trees or whatever . Maybe well have a C8 get together one day . Nick is too far away, up in the moors . Darren in QLD you in Perth .

Ian R in Lancashire helped me out heaps . I do have the story of that particular C8 now owned by Nick, written up in Nicks old magazine .

The chassis of the C8 is interesting , they seem to have used the middle crossmember from a 1940 1/2 ton pickup . The same crossmember is used on the C8AX chassis too. I measured all 3 crossmembers of my three vehicles here:

C8
C8AX
1940 15 cwt ute ( or 1/2 ton pickup to others )

All 3 have exactly the same middle crossmember dimensionally , it's the curvy one that is rusted away in Tony's pic. I also have a 1939 Chev 1 ton wreck here and it also has the same crossmember fitted.

A highly modded C8 turned up on Ebay a few years back in NSW .

Here is a pic of Ians truck , would be 12 years ago at least .
Suffering from droopy front guard syndrome .
Mike
