Can any one confirm please the sump capacity of a standard 270 GMC engine (not including the filter capacity).

I have figures ranging from 6 to 10 quarts at the moment.
This is for my C15TA which has a standard truck engine rather than the AFV version.

A figure in pints or litres would be usefull.

Hello Niel,

With the two piece oil pan, wth filter in place and not drained capacity should be 7.5 qt, according TM9-801, filter only drained, 9 qt. and filter drained and removed 10 qt.

Hello Niel, 1 US Quarter is 0.9463 Liter or 2 Pints, if it is the Beer Pint I don't know.

I'm presuming those are U.S. quarts as the manual is a TM... in that case:

7.5 qts = 7.1 L
9.0 qts = 8.5 L
10.0 qts = 9.5 L

Or, into Imperial pints:

7.5 qts = 12.5 Imp pt
9.0 qts = 15.0 Imp pt
10.0 qts = 16.7 Imp pt

If the engine is the original C 15 TA truck engine,(Which is not clear to me by your posting)The correct figure should be in the C 15 TA maintenance manual...any one that has it could look it up and post it..I would but my original manual is not where I am at the present time or I would gladly look up the info and post it..

I think it was you you supplied me with a full set of manuals in the past.

My vehicle has a standard GMC truck engine rather than the AFV version.

It also has a two piece oil pan (sump) as Hendrick mentions.

Hello Niel, when it is this C15TA, it is a GMC truckengine, I know this one, it used to be in the same stable as my carrier, I think you had to do a lot of little things to make it driveable.
