Sorry, Keith, but the South Island of NZ has the best power supply. All that snow-melt-fed Hydro means that their electricity doesn't even need to be filtered, keeping the best Frozen Sheep carcasses. Auckland has an insatiable appetite for electricity, but they can't transfer it from the South as the fresh water would be tainted with salt when crossing Cook Strait.

A Generator makes DC and an Alternator makes AC. A Generator will produce current by itself, while an Alternator needs an input current to excite the fields, hence the (little) Generator mounted on top of the (big) Alternator.
