Hi All
Was just looking through E-Bay and spotted what looks to be a NOS Ford CMP Brake Booster Kit. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ford-Flathead-Tr...QQcmdZViewItem On the Ford Flathead seller http://stores.ebay.com/Flathead-V8 some other CMP stuff mixed in along site. Usual disclaimer, I have no connection with seller.

Hi Tim
Glad it found someone who need it. When I saw it I looked up the part number in the FORD FAT parts book and saw it was a CMP part number so I figured that someone in our little band of CMPers would be looking for it. This is the third time that I have found NOS brake boosters for CMPs on the internet. Last time it was a pair of mislisted boosters for the Chevy one I bought for my truck and the other went to Bob for his truck. Cheers Phil

The odd thing about this booster is that either he has several, or he's had it listed off and on for a year or so without it selling. If anyone else needs one, it might be worth an e-mail to the seller.
Now, what I'm looking for is a rebuild kit (preferably not 60 years old) that would suit the Chev (and perhaps the Bendix manual to cover this version of the Hydrovac). Does anyone have any idea what the civilian application for these boosters was. I've not found any civil uses, but it's hard to believe that the whole system, linkage, booster and all, was unique to the CMPs. After all, so many parts of the brake system, including the master cylinder and wheel brake assemblies were off the shelf parts. |

I wonder if the base of the Chevy CMP brake booster was in the Chevy vacuum shift unit. Your right so much what is used in CMP was off the shelf parts.

.... in summary we could use 3 rebuild kits for the Chevy booster..?
Tell me Phil...... are you up to your A......................... ..........armpit in snow yet???? Awful white in Ottawa. Did you use your booster as is without rebuilding...? That dealer in the UK has been listing CMP NOS parts for quite some times now...... particularly Ford V8 parts....not cheap with the shipping but unique...... quite helpful as a dealer and I have bought from him...... he has a hard time searching for stuff since his garage warehouse is away from his house and he has no idea of what he has until he unwraps a new lot of parts...... and he seems to have lots..... Bob

About rebuild kits I'm sure they are still out there the problem is finding them, over the years I've seen some strange Canadian parts show up in parts dealers from states along the boarder. Cheers

Hi All
Just posted this info into the Restoration Forum. Power Brakes in Adelaide rebuild these at a reasonable cost. They get jobs from all over Oz as they are about the only ones that do this. Contact Alan on 08 8332 4988. www.powerbrakes.com.au Bob
