This is a rare one :
Looks like a 1940 Dodge with the Indian pattern Ambo body . The unit is the 2nd AACC on training exercise.... They also had Inter D series with that body . Note the C 7062 plate and the AACC on the guard. Other pic is a Chev in the 3rd AACC workshop, Sth Melbourne . 051041 is again the Sth Melbourne workshop , is that a K2/Y nose I see in the background ? Agree ? Mike

Hi
I must have missed this post, so some picture of WD Austin K2Y ambulance (1941). Ex 2AACC. (NSW). Came via Middle est. (lots of bullet holes),Arriving Australia April/May 1942. Guess work starts here. WD no. A1207004, to Australia Issued AMF no. A1207004, changed to AMF no. 1207004, should then of being issued with one or two AMF numbers, But this did not appear to have happened. most likely went to Queensland, see film AWM F01986. these Ambulances kept the altered WD numbers and are not listed in the AWM ARN files. Coming back to NSW. of course it may have never left. The windscreen was reversed, as happened to about 8 others, and a driver's side head light added, as the mounting had been sawn off in the ME, the headlight being bottom mounting was fitted buy drilling though the radiator mounting bracket, thus the headlight fitted about 1 inch higher on the driver's side. the pictures are of A1207004(1207004)not all up loaded mmm 454c_1[1]_2.jpg IMG_3571.jpg |

50219 to 50251 are all refugee K2Y Ambulances . Various other refugee vehicles like WOT2D, Morris Portee, Albion, Bedford are listed. 'Refugee' refers to vehicles headed for places like Malaya or Singapore, but the ships were diverted to Australia.
