Hi Dirk - nice looking plates, however not the same as used here in Oz. On our large plates the "OFF" scripting by the Dash Lamps and the Stop Lamp Isolation, is in a different position that both only need a half-throw switch. Similarily on the small plate the "OFF" scripting for the Fuel and Ignition switches are also in a different position. Also the centre position is not applicable here as an Auto Pulse was never fitted, so if that hole is punched out, again inapplicable here. I've attached an image of our plates.

Good morning, the new dash plate set's are an exact copy from an orginal Chevrolet CMP dash panel plate (toggle switch) set, including the difficult holes. Your "our" Ford CMP dash plates, are different ! See the Canadian Ford page on my website: http://www.lwdparts.com/partscanada?...y=parcan&id=a& Dirk |

Hi Dirk - I've always been a bit confused on Switch Plates. On reflection and some reading I think this type of plate was only ever fitted to the Oz Ford CMPs. Our Chevrolets all had small individual switch plates. We also had the brass style of plate with the larger having four retaining bolts and not six as the silver ones. Do you have a picture of how and where these silver plates were mounted in a Chevrolet as both MB-C1 & MB-C2 Manuals only depict the small individual plates.

What can I say, the nice Chevrolet CMP manuals (April 1942 - Sept.1943) are to early for the light grey (silver) dash plates with the 6 holes. The N.O.S. dash panel here below is a Chev one: part no. LV7/GM-5826341, late 1943 - late 1945. The other 2 panel pics are from a C15A truck, w/o data plate, (stolen) ! More info / pics / drawings about dash details can you find in the several CMP reference books etc. (after late 1943) ! Dirk ![]() ![]() ![]() |

For giving me another couple of pieces of the continuing jig-saw puzzle of what varying manufacturing processes took place along with the era and the country.

There is always some magical date at which production changes have (or supposed to ) taken place..... or so we think until a particular Friday evening shift when they ran out of parts and dug out what was available in the back shelf of the stock room.... or was is specified to be built as such as it was going to Australia...???
Here are two pictures of the instrument panel of a C60.....built as an Australian contract..... that never left Canada.... the C60 had small C15a axles and 16 inch rims...... build date is Sept 1944..... and it sports the early civilian dash..... with the typical Australian 5 and 3 switch panel..... ....but wait.... why was a similar C60 with odd sized axles be built for the same contract ...10 days earlier.....with round guages....? ...sorry my pics do not show the switch arrangements.... If only these old trucks could talk..... the stories they could tell.... BooB
