Default museum in Belgium

good to see the new museum is opening soon will have to come over and have a look...used to be a guy with a gun shop in Koksyde called Marcel De Kerpel...he took me to a old place in La-Panne which was full of sten-guns and Boys anti tank guns still in the grease-proof paper and lots of ammo...we also had a trip to the biggest dump in Belgium at Mont St..(Guibert)!!!!.......the guy there had everything from Harleys(ex french army) to Hawker Hunter jet planes...in one small shed it was filled to the top with 36 type mills grenades and the fuses where just lying on the floor...I bought some large WW1 shell cases which where as big as me!!!the good old days...good luck with the museum regards malcolm erik bogaert

Thanks! Here are some pictures of the building and a couple of displays

Amongst the many original named uniforms those of LtCol F. 'Art' SPARKS, DSO, 2nd In Command, North Nova Scotia Highlanders, 9th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division ( Unit that liberated Knokke)

One of the displays recreates part of the Lippenslaan, the main artery of Knokke. Canadian troops gather in front of the St Moritz Hotel. This display needs some minor work to resemble the WW2 pictures we have of this location and is also temporary home of mannequins awaiting their own display, like the Dispatch Rider of the 24th Lancers, 1st Polish Armored Division.

Note the 'D-Day' Boots, typically worn by members of the 3rd ID

Some mannequins

Today, the museum, which is still under construction, was opened to a delegation of the Canadian Armed Forces, visiting the region to commemorate the liberation 64 years ago...
