Default Carrier gearshift binds in first gear

Gidday all,

I took the carrier out to the local A and P show today with some of the other club guys. We managed to get out into one of the paddocks and I got the carrier nice and hot in a drive around there. It was good to get somewhere where I could get into top gear for a change rather than the 1st and 2nd gear in our street!

I'm pleased to report that all is well so far. The gearchange was nice and smooth and a definite improvement on how it was before. There were no signs (so far) of it binding or sticking in 1st gear. It looks to me like all the little improvements and tidy ups have done the trick.

Thanks all for your ideas and assistance.

Cheers

Darryl

Thumbs up Bren carrier gears

Pleased to see that you have had a succesful drive in your carrier and the gear shift is working O.K. Also pleased to note that you had no trouble putting the top back on the gear box, unlike me. Have a succesful and trouble free season, John.

I think I recall from a manual book you can break the tracks and run the gears thru 1 2 3 4 and reverse. would that be hard to do?

Default No Load shifting

Hi

I've tried the trick of trying to test truck transmissions with out the drive shaft, not much help with no drag/or momentum on transmission shifting is not the same as vehicle on the road you can see if all the gears are there but not a reliable test of how it will actually shift. Little better with transfer case connected and drive shaft.

I tried to teach my kids how to double clutch this way but in the end it confused them more than just going out and driving.

Cheers Phil
