What a pity that nobody took a picture of the "Polish" Tiger tank captured fully serviceable by the Poles in the Falaise Gap. Polish tank crews had very good trainig with it.

The WK-60 Breakdown Gantry was definitely used in North Africa. A photo in Brian Baxter's book, "Breakdown", shows one and the census number looks to be L 4552570. Bodies were British built, so hence it is not a Middle East census number, they would have been shipped to UK first. Richard |

Richard, thanks mate! I agree that it is unlikely that there were any Mid-East Census Numbers applied.

The windscreen demister/defroster is a standard German item and can be regularly seen. It is little more than a glazed frame with a number of fine resistance (eureka or nichrome) wires strung across it between spring steel fingers that act as the contact feed points. It is simply plugged in to the standard Wehrmacht dash socket. I had the opportunity to rebuild one of these for Paul Hocking's Stoewer; we only had one original wire but from its length. resistance and gauge, some replacement was found to restore the device to working order. While we're on CS8 trucks, that young Rory Ballard has just bought this. . . . . . . . . R. |

On that other site, I have ID'd that vehicle as an Adler 3 Gd but also mentioned the wheel /tyre equipment as being very British looking or even Afrika Korps type. Any other opinions?? Bill

A thought. I have at least one photo which will scan in tonight, I am at the office now, which shows the ambulance/light cargo truck version of the 3 Gd with a wheel setup very similar to your first photo. Only difference is the mounting of larger size tyres on your photo. That it is an Adler is, I think, not longer a question. Cheers bill

right Bill. No queston abouth this beeing an Adler.
But as mentioned, the wheels and the body seems a bit strange, at least to me. Can't say I have seen, or noticed, special dessert tyres other than on VW Kübels, but it is so many things I don't see... Would be nice to see the scan you are talking abouth. Rolf |

Thank you kind Sir!! So often I forget to go to the "Bible" and think I am as smart as Bart.
Lot's of Beute shots out there, here is one. A very tidy Studebaker, or maybe a Buick probably from the Benelux area originally. Bill

Bit out of our area, but here a Hudson or Terraplane. The eBay seller said it was taken in Russia. By the way this series all came off expired Ebay auctions.

Most posts show Allied MVs in German service. Here is a switch for you.
Although a bit blurry, this German halftrack is now in Canadian service and displays "CANADA" on the hood and a WD number on the side. So that there is no confusio, a large Allied star is painted on the front. It's my belief that this is one of the post-war trophies that were collected for study and for display in museums. ![]()

Folks
Yet another very interesting and nice photo has apeared on e-bay. I was bidding 26 euros, but that's not enough it seems... Any comment on what these photos actually is worth? And I don't mean what a few persons with to much money pays... I guess they don't have the "real" ting using money on... Rolf ![]() |

Well I did not get the photo of the Bedford Umbau. I was bidding 40 euros, and it went for 40,50....
And I was very angry, because I was watching the auction, but did not get any clue I was overbid until the auction ended.. But I did learn that if I want anything, don't show it until the last second.... Best whiches to he who got it.... Well here is a South African Ford/MH from e-bay, and the auction has not ended yet... Chers Rolf ![]() |

Rolf, I was told some time back that some people have software that can enable them to bid rapidly. I know of what my Californian friend Ken called 'snipers' who do nothing at all until the last minute say and then bid and keep an eye on the seconds running down to grab the goods. I always found that the Pacific West Coast had the benefit of time on their sides whilst we were in bed fast asleep. Ken once acquired an item with 20 seconds remaining! It does make me sick though that in the past I was beaten at the last moment it seemed by someone who had never played the 'rules' and bid openly when there was the opportunity but I suppose that's life! I cancelled my E-pay account and am glad that I did.

I found that it was 8 seconds left when he placed his last bid...
Don't know he who won it, but guess he knows the system a little better than me. I have no bad words on him. And I can always hope he will share photos later on if he gets a fee. But I saved those money, so next time I can put in twice that much... ![]() And will get some friend of mine to find those programs... Rolf |

I did put in my one euro on each of those negatives, knowing they would sell for a little more ![]() It is madnes with those prices, and it seems that if you have a commonwhealt vehicle of some sort you get a few euros of it, but put a german soldier beside it, and you get a few hundred euros.. And you are not garanteed you have the only photo or negative of that situation.. rolf |

HI THERE ROLF
We had - 5 deg last night so thought i would take the plunge and test the heater i built this morn and find it works greatalthough i need to reduce the airflow when it first starts up to give it more time to get hot im using a 12v fan from a car cooling system running from a 6v batt that runs for five hours no water formed in the exhaust so the fumes are getting away fast enough i have installed an audible alarm to test for carbon monoxide but all stayed quite it went from 20 f to 60f in about twenty minuts regards vic uk

Hello Vic.
Been a long time.. Here in western Norway we had a bit rain on Monday, 223 milimetres in 24 houres. But the last two days, it has been very nice but cold. Guess it was abouth 4 or 5 degrees below 0 last night. WNice to hear your heater is working! Now you can go on trips in the wintertime too, and enjoy the comfort in a heated wireless cabin. Rolf |

Hi, I think the wheels are from Horch Schwwerer Einheits Personen kraft wagen Kfz 83, the same as on the truck behind (the truck is Einheitz LastKraft Waget (Lorry). or from Mittlerer PkW (Kfz 17). But I´ve never seen this nice truck..
