In breaking news, Howard Holgate has discovered yet another cab 12 Ford in his area, but is it all that it seems? Could it be one of the elusive F60H models? All is revealed here.

Nope. Wasn't for sale. No chance. However it is almost next door to Howard so if there is ever an opportunity he'll be in there, don't you worry about that!

I thought that all Austrian Cab 12 had those braces to hold the roofs on at high speed. in the Southern Hemisphere they have enough open space to get a Cab 12 up to it's terminal velocity. First time my Cab 12 hit 50 mph (on the car hauler coming home) the roof pealed back from the windshield. Did that happen to you too when hauling one home? I do want add that the truck is a true find, glad to hear you guys will keep an eye on it to be sure it doesn't slip away.

That's not fair showing someone from a CMP poor country the riches of Australia, every time I see a wonderful find like that I drool. But please keep showing us what we are missing out on. Sorry for the leaving out a few letters in Australia spell check said it was OK Only reason the roofs peal back up here is tacks that hold the roof to wood have rusted away and the wood has rotted away. Cheers Phil

Hi Keith
Looking at the pictures in the link for your F60L is that a bullet hole coming out the back of the headlight? Also after 18:00 hours GMT the my spelling is likely to be impaired. Sun has fallen below the yardarm and the cocktail hour has begun. Cheers Phil

Keith
are you game to take the 12 cab home yet or are you restoring it where it is? the Ganmain claim for cab 12's has a little way to go yet but they better be careful that Andrew from Dubbo doesn't out do them. If you dare to take a photo of me (Kathy) in a blitz I will tell on you ![]() Gues what the temp has just gone up to today, it is now 6.8 after being only 4.9 at 1pm. Max |

Also Chris' F15 is going first - that will be getting the finishing touches here soon as Euan's brother Stuart is bringing the sunshine roof parts here in a couple of weeks so they can be duplicated along with the rear cab curtain.

![]() There's a tiny amount of rust in the doors as well. Originally it seems it had a machinery workshop which of course has long gone, AND the engine has had water in it.

As Keefy said the truck is not for sale.
Although I think there may be a chance in the future, once the owner sees my truck & works out that I would keep it & not simply resell it for profit or anything like that. Added to that, during conversation with the owner we worked out that the truck was originally may Grandfather's Brothers (Ike). This would make it desirable to add to the collection as I already have my Grandfathers, his other brother's (Les Holgate- owned by Ganmain Tony),and my Grandfathers Brother-in-law's. It would be good to have them all together... ![]() HH

G'Day Chaps,
Another one found at a secret location on my way home from a secret location. This is the best unrestored 12 cab I have ever seen! Data plate says "F60S" however looks more like a "L" chassis. The shed was very dark & I only had my phone to take the snaps. I could not see under the truck properly but as far as I can see the only things missing are the mirrors, the Ford script on the dash and the bonnet badge. The truck was bought ex fire service in running condition in the '70s & has been parked in the same spot since. The owner has plans to restore it upon retirement in a few years time. The TAC signage has remained in good nick, too, as it was fitted back-to-front and therefore escaped the two or thee coats of paint that the rest of the truck has copped. Speaking of paint, the inside & underside paint is a much darker shade of green, indicating post-war service??

Only one available is the CD version. While it is not complete it is a very good guide to the Tac signs and unit markings of Australian vehicles. Some information is hard to find as well requiring reading page after page to discover the tit bits you want. Also has diagrams showing where the relavent signs/numbers were located on vehicles. Well worth the money IMHO

Howard,
Are they Ford or Chev No11 covers? I need a set of Ford No11 covers for mine. Will we be able to have them replicated if they are Ford? Thanks Rick.

Rick they are a full set of Ford covers, some of which I need for my F15, which is of course a 12 cab but has 11 covers.
![]() PM me as I have one or two spare covers, it just depends on which ones you need I suppose! ![]() ![]()

By eyeball it certainly looks too long to be a F60S. Several possibilities - cab (or part of it) bearing data plates was swapped from a F60S onto a F60L frame (comparing engine/serial #s between the engine and the data plates might shed light on it), frame was stretched to permit longer loads (or more overloading, depending on your point of view), mislabelled from day 1.

The shed was too dark & the day too wet to slide underneath & have a good look, but from what I could see, the chassis did not appear to be stretched. I was unable to see the engine number and the data plate number to see if the numbers matched. Also, the rear tray appears to be a machinery body... which wouldn't fit on a S chassis... My guess is that the instrument panel has been replaced at one stage and the data plate came from the donor vehicle. Like I said, I should get a better look at it in a couple of weeks. ![]()

...is the long wheelbase has a two piece tailshaft with a centre bearing, the 'S' has a single piece.
