The length of the G antenna on the # 9 base is 24 inches.
The F antenna on a # 8 base consists of 3, 4 foot sections = 12 feet, or a V laporte adaptor could be used with 2 sections on each side of the V. The WS-11 radio was used in the MK I carriers but was replaced by the WS-19. The antenna base on the back of the early carrier would have been a # 2 or a # 3 base which could be replaced by the # 8 base. My modest collection of antennas for my19 sets. The diameter of the G rod is 1/4 inch. The diamieter of the F rod is 3/8 at the base necked down to 27/64 to fit in the springmount.

I had wondered on the antenna as on a previous thread the diameter of the mount for the antenna was 7/8 hole to attach the antenna
so there is no special whip antenna Jeff |

This is from the EMER FZ256-3. It is the mounting kit for the WS19 for the MK I.
If you're looking for a WS11, Dean got both of mine. What are you doing yours as, the Westies? |

The problem was that 11 sets were obsolete in 1942 and replaced with the 19 set. If a carrier was not wireless equipped the factory 11 set base was either left in place (unused) or removed. When a 19 set was used, the 11 set antenna mount was removed from the folding aerial base and a rubber No.8 base installed. It took two 4' F sections making an 8 foot 'whip' for 19 'A' set. The U-shaped bracket near the division plate was replaced with a bracket that took the 19 set No.9 'B set' base and a G-section as kindly illustrated by universalgrl. (second pic) |

Good post Bruce.
If anyone has any spare components to suit the WS11 fit as in Bruce's first picture I'd be very interested in buying them for my Scout carrier. I have a few parts but not all. Thanks Ben |
