Jacking bar finish?
My jacking bar got suitably rusty and it's needs to be refinished. I ended up soaking it in a tub of Evaporust and it has been cleaned right up. Now I need to do something to keep it from rusting up again. Did the original bars have a painted finish or where they blackened?

jack handle.
Jordan,
I once borrowed a jacking bar off a guy who had alot of original tools, his was painted the same colour as the carrier. Anyone got a picture/dimensions of the jack handle for a carrier jack, I need to make a couple. kevin.

No answer so far so I will ask if this Holden jack handle is a close enough substitute. I'll have to copy it with a smaller square end or end up with a Holden jack without a handle.

Michael,
Its a good thing that a few people like yourself make the effort to answer other peoples questions, or else there would be no answers. HR Pearce, We are still waiting for an Australian or Kiwi to give you an answer.

This is what came with my Harvey Frost Jack, I know it is a post war jack, but don't know if the handle is something similar.

Lance, That is good. That is the British war time issue carrier jack. Your one might be dated post war, but I have 1940 and 1941 dated jacks
I have seen them with steel and aluminium bodies, and rated variously at 4 ton, and 4 1/2 ton. There are different manufactures as well. I cant remember what mine are, but remember that Britool made them. I believe that in 1938 the extention was a one piece item, but by the time the Carrier Bren NoII, MkII was in production, they were a two piece. (that means all U.C's had a two piece) For the Canadians, the bracket on your carrier was designed to fit this jack, and was issued with no block of wood. Lance, I assume you have yours because it is also part of the Humber kit?
