Folks, I have fitted my speedo cable but it looks to be Knackered as I know the gauge and the drive both work... Anyone know of a replacement or equivalent that I can use ? Can the inner cable be withdrawn from the outer ?

Richie, I had a new one made for € 105 / GBP 85. All new components and with outer steel tubing. There must be companies in the UK that can do the same for you?
Cheers,

I have an inner from Brian Asbury. Absolutely no idea how they come apart. I can take it to W&P if you like? Ben |

Yes please matey, we can butcher mine and figure out how it all works. ;-) would be nice to have the speedo working, saying that everything else in the dash works !
Checkie came over and re polarised my generator so it is now charging nicely ! And the charging light in the switch panel extinguishes now.

The cable core pulls back through the housing towards the speedometer drive end.
I have one of Brian Asbury's cores heading my way as we speak to try and fix mine. Otherwise I'll have to make a trip to the city to get one made. |

Disconnect the cable at the bottom end.
The cable has a spring steel support at the bottom end. The bottom of which hooks into a hole in the end of the outer at the diff end. Unclip it. This then allows you to slide the nut up the cable a bit, and it exposes a washer type clip. Slide that out to the side (mine is a tight fit) and then you should be able to pull the inner up from the top end. This is part of an early British UC cable> I do not have the top end of it, so my instructions are a compilation of what I have, and what Rob said.
